Blowsion Beach Party 2003

This year we again had the opportunity to join our friends John Dady and Mark Matsuda of Blowsion Kolors for their annual Beach Party. It was a benefit for Wyatt Brown this year, and a raffle was held with donated prizes and all proceeds went to Wyatt's family to continue his fight against Autism. Over $4200 was raised at the event.

It was especially nice to see old friends and meet new ones face to face that I have only conversed with over the internet. People came from as far away as Great Britain and Florida. This is not a come one-come all event, not even a sanctioned event really, but rather a true party just for the fun of it. All the food was donated from various sponsors and friends, and everyone helped in some small way. Earl was there with a killer sound system to keep the party rockin'. Dok manned the grill and produced some of the best grilled salmon I've ever tasted, and as always the grilled oysters were legendary.

It seems almost everyone got a chance to experience the ocean, with the friendly atmosphere motivating locals to share their jetskis with people who flew in. The waves were mellow I'm told although they were awe-inspriring for this flatwater rider. Cold weather gear is a must because although the beach was a comfortable 70 degrees or so with only light breezes, the water was a chilly 50 degrees easy. Brrrrr!

The days festivities did not end as the sun goes down, as the party continued in Pacific City. We descended on a local bar, the Tidewater, which we aptly rename the Bilgewater for an evening of karaoke, high libations, and fun enough to make the locals blush.

It is considered a modest beach party, but this annual event is World Class entertainment for sure.
